Aero Club Membership

Aeroclub membership is open to pilots and enthusiasts alike.

Pilots who hold the required certificates can be approved to rent one of our Robinson R44 helicopters or access larger turbine machines thanks to our partnership agreements at extremely competitive rates.

Enthusiasts can also benefit from the use of these helicopters with one of our instructors as well as many of the other perks offered exclusively to our members.

DISCOVERY DAYS: Discover the art of flying at special prices. Whether you are young, old, passionate or simply curious, discovery days gives you the opportunity to get behind the controls of a helicopter and enjoy the magnificent views of Monaco for a 15-minute flight.

TRIAL FLIGHTS: This includes a ground briefing, followed by a 30-minute flight with an experienced instructor. The Trial flight is an opportunity to discover the basis basics of flying a helicopter: If you wish to continue for the Private Pilot Licence, the flight time will be logged in your flight book and count for the required hours to pass the PPL(H) – (Private Pilot License Helicopter).

PPL(H) Private Pilot License

The course consists of flight and ground instruction to give the pilot the necessary knowledge to pass flight tests. The minimum flying experience required to qualify for the issue of a PPL(H) is 45 flight hours of which 10 hours is solo. For the holder of a PPL(A) the minimum is 39 hours. Training for the PPL(H) is offered on the Robinson R44 Clipper. The student pilot must pass a ground examination (multiple choice type) on the following topics:

  2. Flight Performance & Planning
  3. Navigation
  4. Meteorology
  5. Human performance & Limitations
  6. Communications
  7. Air Law
  8. Aircraft General Knowledge
  9. Principles of Flight

Our fully qualified, friendly and experienced chief-instructor will ensure that the PPL course is tailored to suit your individual requirements and to achieve the licence in the most efficient and enjoyable way.

The Aeroclub of Monaco is authorized to conduct type conversions on the Robinson R44, Bell 206B Jetranger III and Colibri EC120 as well as other types through our trusted partners. Each course consists of ground instruction to familiarize the candidate with the new aircraft, its systems and the Pilots Operating Handbook. A minimum of 5 flying hours are normally required for these conversions.

Requirements:

Hold a valid JAR-PPL(H) licence.
Hold a valid Class 2 or 1 medical certificate.

Training:

Have completed at least 5 hours including:

  • 3 hours “double” instruction
  • 1 hour “double” cross country
  • 5 takeoffs and 5 landings
